Junior Golf

Attire
Every year the question of AVCC's proper dress code arises. All golfers, including Juniors, must adhere to the dress code. Anyone planning to play golf or use the practice facilities must wear a collared shirt and shirt tales must be tucked in at all times. The length of shorts must not be shorter than 4 inches above the knee. Cut-offs, blue jeans, bathing suits, tank tops or similar clothing are not allowed on the golf course or practice facilities at any time. If a cap is worn, it must always face forwards and must be taken off indoors at all times.

Cancellation/No-Show Policy
Due to the limited space and popularity of Gerard's junior golf clinics and camps, each participant will be billed in full the day they sign up. You must cancel 2 weeks in advance to receive a refund.

Group Clinics
In addition to the clinics and camps that are mentioned in the Junior Golf Program Brochure, Gerard will also hold smaller group clinics that can be scheduled at the leisure of the parents. This is a great way for beginners and intermediates to get together with other friends of the same ability and learn the game at their own pace.

Handicapping Procedure
Gerard will be monitoring all junior handicap records this season. It is his feeling that every young player should establish a handicap the moment they pick up a golf club. Therefore, it is imperative that every junior golfer at Aspetuck establish a handicap before they begin play in Tuesday morning junior golf, participate in interclub, or compete in any outside events such as the MET PGA Junior Tour or the Borck Junior Championship. Please see Gerard as soon as possible to begin establishing your handicap. Your handicap file will be set up in the handicap computer located in the golf shop and you will be well on your way to posting scores in no time.

Interclub Matches
Every junior should strive to compete in these events against other clubs. It is an excellent opportunity to play at other courses while representing AVCC. It is a proven fact that your game can only get better by playing competitive tournament golf.

Junior Certification
Any junior under the age of 16 who wishes to play alone or with other juniors on days other than Tuesday mornings (Junior Golf Day) must become certified and receive a Certified Junior Bag Tag. To receive a bag tag, juniors must pass a written test on etiquette and rules, have the ability to play quickly, and display appropriate behavior on the golf course as well as on the grounds of Aspetuck Valley Country Club.  You must phone the Golf Shop to sign up to take the test.  Certified Junior Golfers (under 16) may play at any time on weekdays, except Thursday morning, and must permit faster playing adult golfers to play through. On Tuesday mornings, Juniors will be permitted to golf after 9:00 am providing they are participating in the Junior golf Program. Certified Junior Golfers may play on Saturday, Sunday and holidays after 12:00 noon when accompanied by an adult; however, Certified Juniors may play alone or with other Certified Junior golfers after 2:30 pm. All Certified Junior Golfers must check in with the Starter prior to teeing off. Please see Gerard in regards to Junior Certification and he will be more than happy to  answer any questions that you may have.
